Free to use. Yours to run.
No EveryLocale subscription or seat charge. Your setup determines inference, hosting, and backup costs.

Choose the costs you control
| Item | How it works |
|---|---|
| Cloud inference | Pay your selected provider for generation and independent review. Rates, model context, output length, and retries determine the bill. |
| Local inference | No per-request API fee for an unmetered model. Hardware, memory, power, and processing time remain your costs. |
| ChatGPT plan | Optional, for eligible installations. Uses the account’s existing allowance and any credit permissions the user grants in ChatGPT settings. |
| Service hosting | A persistent Node.js service with SQLite storage. An existing compatible server may have spare capacity; a new host has its own fee. |
| Backups and alerts | Store protected backups off-host and connect your notification receiver. Their charges depend on your infrastructure. |
Budget before you translate
Configure explicit token rates for both roles and a cumulative USD limit per project. The service reserves work before calling a metered provider, records returned usage, and stops when the next reservation cannot fit. Interrupted requests are accounted conservatively.
Unchanged accepted translations reuse cached wording. New source revisions, changed context, or changed pipeline guidance can create work. Benchmark your own short messages and long documents to estimate a useful budget.
Keep unattended operation predictable
Use a persistent service for jobs and provider sessions. Keep a scoped EveryLocale token in CI, wait for approved content, then build. Configure exception notifications for failed jobs, blocked reviews, budget exhaustion, and publication changes.
There is no automatic switch from ChatGPT allowance or local inference to a paid provider. Provider changes and billing permissions stay explicit.
